Agriculture is still a major part of the Minnesota economy, even though that only a small percentage of the
population are employed in the farming industry.
State agribusiness has changed from production to processing. From the manufacturing of value added food products by
companies such as Cargill, General Mills, and Hormel Foods Corporation.
Forestry is another Minnesota important industry, strong with pulpwood processing, logging, paper production and
forest products manufacturing.
High-technology sector has important role of Minnesota economy as well, represented by Alliant Techsystems,
and big IBM plant in Rochester.
